Law Lords Condemn UK Policy

10-December-2004

The United Kingdom policies discriminating against Rroma who were often prevented from boarding flights from the Czech Republic to Britain was condemned by the Law Lords as being racially discriminating.

These pre-screenings of asylum applications of Rroma, mostly from the Czech Republic, were put in place in 2001 due to the suddden influx of Rroma from both the Czech and Sloavk Republics in both Britain and Canada. The Law Lords added that the Rroma had good reasons for wanting to leave these countries, as they were de facto persecuted.
