Kosovo Rroma

Amnesty International, Gesellschaft für Bedrohte Völker, Schweizerische Flüchtlingshilfe, the Rroma Foundation, and Human Rights Switzerland have launched an appeal against the decision of the Swiss Government to return Rroma refugees from Kosovo to their home country. 

Kosovo Rroma: Returning Refugees

December 2008: This report highlights the difficulties encountered by returning refugees in Kosovo. In this particular case, we followed on refugee who was forcefully returned to Kosovo from Switzerland after five years in that country. No help for returning refugees is available, they have to fend for themselves, and in addition, obtaining legal papers from Kosovo is far from trivial.

This report analyses the current situation, the prospects, and the future of this minority in that country. Rroma in Italy

July/August 2008:During the summer, one member of the foundation went and visited the by now famed Rroma camps around some of the biggest Italian cities. This report, in German, is the result of these vistis and offer an insight in the real situation of Rroma in that country.


Sulukule

July 2008.One of the oldest Rroma settlements in Europe, the Sulukule neighbourhood in Istanbul is being destroyed and its inhabitants are forced to move outside of the city, in a new settlement where they will no longer be able to work in their traditional occupation. …

Kosovo 2006

June 2006. This report is the result of an extensive survey in Kosovo in the spring of 2006 by the staff of the Rroma Foundation. It shows the still difficult situation of Rroma in this region and the fact that this region is being ethnically cleansed.

Kosovo 2005

February 2005.This report was done after a visit of our staff in Kosovo in the beginning of 2005. It shows the continuing difficult situation that Rroma face in that region as well as the continuing discriminations they are subjected to.
